He appeared on the census of 4 June 1900 at S.D.5; E.D.112; Sheet 2 A, Elm Creek Township, Saline County, Kansas; is age 66, has been married 43 years to 'Emma' and he is farming. They have had 4 children, all are living.

The base on which the markers of James and John are standing has (Quote:) "Children of Ephraim and Sarah Main", but the death year for Maria would indicate that James is the child of Maria." (End Quote).
