Mammoth Cave in Kentucky This picture was shared by Frank L. Kammerer. From Frank: (Begin Quote) On one of the tours we came to a path that had been used for many years. There were hundreds of names on the walls and ceilings of these rooms. The dates ranged from the early 1800 on. There are so many names on the walls and ceilings. The guides would charge them to have their name smoked onto the walls. You see some of them are written backwards. They would use a mirror so they would not drip candle wax on their clothing. (End Quote) We do not know if this is our George M. Nye, or perhaps one of the other George Nyes in our family, with the middle initial 'M'.
